Lloyd commenced his PhD candidature under the supervision of Dr Deborah van der Plaat & Dr Janina Gosseye, members of the Research Centre for Architecture | Theory | Criticism | History (ATCH) at the University of Queensland in August 2017. His research aims to document the work of eminent Queensland architect Robin Gibson (1930-2014) and his practice, Robin Gibson and Partners (1957-c.2013). This will be the first comprehensive study of Gibson undertaken and will use personal archival material donated to the Fryer Library by the Gibson family. The project will explore the impact and lasting influence of Gibson’s practice on the architectural and cultural identity of Queensland. Lloyd has been involved with ATCH projects since 2014, having previously worked on the Hot Modernism exhibition and the Digital Archive of Queensland Architecture as a student. He holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in architecture from the UQ School of Architecture and is keen to further his interest in preserving Queensland’s built heritage and generate public interest in the history of modernism in Queensland.
