Kate Linzey is a part-time PhD candidate at the University of Queensland, while teaching at the Wellington Institute of Technology. Her topic is an exploration of Len Lye's concept of 'Tangible Motion' as it was expressed in his proposals for large scale kinetic sculptures. Len Lye (1908-1980) had a diverse career as an artist and film maker, living in London and New York. His archive is held at the Len Lye Centre at the Govett-Brewster Gallery, New Plymouth, New Zealand. Kate completed a Masters of Architecture on architectural drawing archives at the University of Auckland, in 2002. She is a member of the Society of Architectural Historians of Australia and New Zealand and the Wellington Architectural Centre.
