ATCH hosts Langer Workshop

Wednesday, 1 August 2018

On August 1, ATCH hosted a one day workshop at UQ for authors working on a new edited book on the emigre architect Karl Langer (1903-1969). To be published by Bloomsbury (London) in late 2019, the book will be included in the publisher's new series on modern architecture overseen by Dr Janina Gosseye and Professor Tom Avermaete. The book will offer a glimpse into the lives of Karl and Gertrude Langer in Queensland and will trace their impact on the local culture from their arrival in 1940 through to Karl's early death in 1969. The essays will be written by key scholars in the field including Professor Phillip Goad,  Donald Watson, Fiona Gardiner, Dr Robert Riddel, Dr Janina Gosseye, Assoc Professor Andrew Saniga,  Dr Andrew Wilson and Doug Neale. The book is edited by Dr Deborah van der Plaat and Professor John Macarthur.
